Accelerated Reader (AR)

At the beginning of the school year, each child will take a STAR test to determine his/her reading comprehension level.  This level will guide your student when he/she is checking out books in the library.

I expect students to read nightly with the expectation that they are ready to complete an AR test on the book they read every two weeks.  They should test on 4-5 AR chapter books at their reading level each quarter.  The books they read and test on should be at their AR reading level.  Students will earn awards quarterly for the points they earned.  Every 2 weeks, I will do an AR check in where students will receive the score for the AR test that they took during that 2 week period as a homework grade in the gradebook.  The book will need to be a chapter book at your child’s AR reading level.  For instance, if your child took a test on a book and received a 90% as their score, then their grade will be a 90% for that 2 week AR grading period.

AR Home Connect

This is a parent site that allows you to see quizzes and scores. On this site parents can also sign up to receive emails every time a student takes an AR quiz. As far as the STAR results, this site does show the students ZPD score (book range) on the side bar. Click the link to log in to Home Connect Website.
