We have new information to share with our families regarding changes to our lunch service. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced, effective immediately, all children between 2-18 years of age are eligible to receive a free lunch.
The following school sites are currently serving lunch from 11:00-12:30 daily:
Norris Middle School, Norris Elementary, Veterans Elementary, Olive Drive Elementary, and Bimat Elementary
One of the following requirements must be met to receive a meal:
- The child is present with the parent or guardian, or
- The parent or guardian presents a Barcode Card issued by the Norris School District, or
- The parent or guardian presents any form of identification with the child’s photo.
Although the program is providing free meals through December 2020, it is very important for parents who may qualify to continue to submit the Free and Reduced Application available on the Norris School District website before September 23rd. School Districts rely on the socio-economic data provided on Free and Reduced Applications to provide funding for their schools. Without this information, schools may lose out on additional funds used to enrich our student’s education experience. This will also be important as we want your child to be in the correct lunch program when we are able to transition back to in-person instruction. Please visit the Norris School District website at https://www.norris.k12.ca.us to access the application.
